Pardon the interruption to bring you this important message.

You do NOT push on the humps to close the trunk. That’s the sure-fire way to damage it.

And I knew he would point out the 3 cup-holders for 2 seater thing.

I was only disappointed that it wasn’t the coupe/targa

And to top that this owner could’ve at least washed the car before the review...

But yeah, the coupe probably would’ve gained an extra point on practicality.

No kidding. That irked me the whole time... not even appeared to try to have washed the car and cleaned the interior before being put on camera.

He mentioned the Opel GT, and Daewoo in addition to the Sky, but didn’t mention the Sky Redline, or the Vauxhall VX lightning concept.

Most of the feedback I’ve heard about the Kappas were that the ergonomics and switch placements and things are actually kind of annoying, and some can be hard to reach while seated in the car.

Where do you push? The humps seem the obvious place.

I think it’s interesting that he rags on GM the whole time. I’m learning that GM has always been shit and everybody knows it. It’s such a weird thing to get used to.

Yeah, the lack of a basic car wash was...interesting

Doug: “There are known to be pretty reliable. ”

Compared to what? The highest mileage car in the entire US that’s currently for sale has 112,000 miles on it. That’s because they have garbage Ecotec engines. GM, mercifully, has stopped trying to sell them as “the 4 cylinder LS” and just let it die.

On the area where the top flaps latch into. It’s way more reinforced there than the humps, which is understandable considering the trunk and the panels are hydroformed.

Another tip is to lift and hold the silver flap open, this releases the air pressure when closing the trunk, requiring less force to slam it shut.

Believe it or not... I actually trust the Ecotec more than the N20 in my 3- series, I’m just waiting on the timing chain guide to explode on that thing .

The only real known issue I’ve had with the Ecotec was the water pump grenading but seems like this can be avoided if you religiously replace the Dexcool, because it’s that eating the seals on it . Other than that I have some minor oil seeping at the pan but not enough to be a concern, and it’s been for years. And s upposedly I have the better version since it’s an earlier block , a lot of Solstice/Sky owners had these things supercharged to like 300+ hp with no issues.
